 If you are new to triathlon, and looking for a group setting in which to learn and train – this program is a great fit for you.   Over the last three years, this program has helped many people accomplish their goals and form strong friendships!

During the 10 week program, participants will train three times per week together, with qualified coaches.

The swim starts off in Burlington National Fitness Pool on Tuesdays where participants will be coached by Ana Lemus.  Stroke correction and swim technique will be the focus of the pool sessions.  Starting in May, the swim will move to the Open Water at Gulliver’s Lake where athletes will learn specific open water swim skills including spotting, beach and water starts and drafting.

Greg Pace will coach the bike and the brick workouts which start off at the indoor training centre of Neworld Cycle.  Participants can ride their own bike on a Neworld trainer, or on a spin bike.  Pedal stroke, body position and gearing will be among a few of the cycling techniques Greg will focus on during these indoor sessions.  After the May long weekend, the group will head outside on the roads of the Aldershot area.  Workouts will include hill repeats, and  brick workouts (bike and run) as the program progresses.

Margaret Dorio and Shawna Button will coach the run which will start off at Neworld Tri Store, running thru the Aldershot neighbourhood.  Workouts will include interval and tempo runs, and will end up at MM Robinson track for the last 4 weeks of the program.

Other TCoB workout leaders will be present to help and mentor participants.   Special educational seminars on bike maintenance, changing a flat tire,  injury prevention, and transition practice will also be a focus of the 10 week program.

The times for the training for the SO TRI program are:

Swim:  Tuesdays April 14 – May 19: 8:00 – 9:00pm at Burlington National Fitness Pool
           Wednesdays May 26 – June 17 – 6:30 – 7:30pm at Gulliver’s Lake

Bike:  Thursdays April 16 – May 21: 6:30 – 7:30pm at Neworld Spin Studio
         Tuesdays May 26 – June 16: 6:30 – 8:00pm on Old York Rd.

Run: Wednesday April 15 – May 20: 6:30pm at Neworld Runners
        Thursdays May 28 – June 18: 6:30pm at Central School Track
